Locations

Backyards and at home

Sometimes the best location is right out your back door. No travel involved, and snacks and wardrobe changes are close by with no packing required L Lifestyle sessions are usually done indoors, at home, and are some of my favorite to shoot.

Winter Island

Salem, MA

This location is a winner because it has a little of everything… the lighthouse, docks, beach, and green space. If you have little ones, there is a playground (which can be a pro or con depending on your child!), and places for them to play and stay occupied. During the summer months, you do need a sticker to park there, but in the fall and winter, the gates are open for all. Being on the coast, there is always the chance of strong wind, so it is something to consider!

Forest River Park

Salem, MA

This park has recently been updated and has a little boardwalk with benches and grass that makes for a pretty backdrop. It also has views of the ocean/harbor as well as green space and walking paths. It also has a playground (and that cement slide that I am not daring enough to try!) and small beach access points for little ones to dip their toes in the water and throw rocks (a favorite pastime of all!). This park also requires a pass during the summer months, and is open during fall and winter.

Historic District

Salem, MA

If you are looking for more of a city vibe, having your shoot downtown, on Chestnut Street or in the McIntire district is a great option. There are so many landmarks, hidden gems, and gardens for a variety of photos. I recommend this more for engagement shoots, seniors, or families with kids that are a little older.

The Willows

Salem, MA

This location has many options and is a really fun spot for candids if that is your style! Complete with water, a park, paths, the pier, a beach, and an arcade. It’s a perfect spot for families that have kids that like to move and explore. If you are feeling adventurous, grab some popcorn or an ice cream and have fun with your family taking some unposed photos (or have some as a treat after your session!). It can be a little windy here, however, there are lots of spots to get away from the wind.

Crocker Park

Marblehead, MA

Crocker Park has a lot of picturesque spots with beautiful backdrops like the harbor, Abbot Hall and Old Town, and the gazebo. Time of day is super important in this location as there isn’t a lot of shade, however, it glows in the early morning or evening light. There is also right down the street if you want a treat after.

Chandler Hovery Park

Marblehead, MA

The lighthouse! An iconic Marblehead location with sweeping views of the harbor. This is another location that it is really important as to the time of day you have your session. There is not a lot of shade, but is absolutely beautiful in the evening.

Fort Sewall

Marblehead, MA

This is one of my favorite locations. With views of the harbor and the lighthouse, while also being a park with benches and paths, it offers a lot of options. Depending on the tide, there is also a beach just a few steps away with rocks to climb on, water to stick your toes in, or just run around and play on!

Village Street Docks

Marblehead, MA

This is a great spot for a quick session! The location is small, but I love the dock and the beach, and you end up with beautiful nautical themed images. It is also a great spot for graduation photos! Like many photos by the water, there is not a lot of shade so early morning or evening is best.

Devereux Beach (or any beach!)

Marblehead, MA

If you are a big fan of candids, the beach is perfect for you. Timing is important to get a beautiful glow and so there aren’t too many people around (I’d recommend the evening). Play with your kids in the sand, run through the water, swing and spin them around, or have tickle fights! Also beautiful for engagement sessions.

Lynch Park

Beverly, MA

A big park with a beach and a beautiful walled in garden. This location also has a lot of shade, which is great if early morning or evening doesn’t work with your schedule. There is a playground and a splash pad and lots of places to run around. Depending on the hour and time of year, you do pay to park. (I believe in the evenings you don't have to pay!)
